Viking Death Squad Bonus Gear - Junker role

Hello all,

Just purchased VDS and am looking forward to learning it and hopefully running a session soon. When looking through character creation, I noticed certain roles grant Bonus Gear, and the Junker specifically gets 2 Armor and 2 Basic.

Starting with extra armor and gear would be nice for the first session, but since players will be finding armor and gear regularly, I don’t see this role being particularly useful in the long run compared to the others.

Grave Robber for example gets a bonus 2 Armor to start, but also a bonus Skill which is quite good. So why would someone ever choose to play Junker over Grave Robber?

I feel like there must be something I am missing.

Honestly it comes down to how you approach making a character. Not everyone wants to be a grave robber.

“My husband made that armor, it was buried with him. How dare you desecrate his grave!”
And now the whole town is against you… 🤷
