All looking for different things, but specifically information on their pasts and the underdark, the gang decided to heist the Sorel Private Library to find the information they need. To case the joint they sent Evelyne in wearing a prosthetic nose and mustache, and although she wasnt able to get the keys to the restricted section, she was able to get a good idea if the internal layout, and started some rapport with the librarian Stella, a politically minded young lady who seems almost as jaded with the government as the gang is.
Ech0 used its computer skills to create a high clearance library card for Galaxy and posed as her research assistant; they went inside and began their search without much hassle except for a strange cat that stared at them angrily and then ran away. At the same Vincent used his status as an upstanding citezen and a member of the Crown to get in without any trouble where he met Finnian, an unhoused older fellow studying and living in the ancient history wing of the library, Finnian says he is trying to become an anthropologist, and offered to help Vincent find what he is looking for. All the while Evelyne got to the top of the library where she eavesdropped on the guards and prepared to run distraction if anything went south. In the restricted section Galaxy and Ech0 found government documents talking about the history of conduits (magic users), as well as one detailing the specific lab that produced Galaxy. What is odd is that the conduit program was shut down some 70 years ago, but Galaxy has memories of it despite looking and feeling like she is only in her mid 20s. Vincent spends some time looking around and finds an ancient map of the island of Mother, eith the reverse side being a map of the underdark, he also senses that he should look through the biographies and newspaper clippings to find the best entrance to the underdark. Galaxy and Ech0 left the restricted section and headed to the patent records office where they found the patent for Vincents endoskeleton, as well as a patent for a sentient android, Ech0 is the first of this line, but realizes that it’s inventor (a Sidhe named Miriam Gulch) was late to the party as a completely separate kind of sentience had been achieved 6 years prior, though the common type was much more prone to bugs. Vincent found nformation in the biographies section about St. Florian Abar, and in the newspaper archive finds a centuries old clipping about the old royal family the Renaults building something beneath their castle, which he infers is the entrance to the underdark. He also met a gaudy graphic designer named Charlotte who seemed to take a liking to him and offered him the option to be her +1 at a gala that is being held by Ghostwood Shipping Co CEO Yancy Nancuster in a few weeks.
As this happened the cat from earlier finished climbing up the guard tower and began loudly yowling at the guards, here Evelyne sees a badge on the cats collar with the words "Sgt. Scritchy-Scratch" on it. At this point all hell breaks loose and the guards begin firing on Galaxy and Ech0. Vincent hears this and tackled Charlotte to the ground to protect her, which she took as an odd form of flirting. Additionally Evelyne saw her friends in danger and decided to fire on the guards in the tower, blowing one of their legs completely off, at which point the other guard vowed he would find her and make her pay, but at least they stopped attacking the others. on the way out Galaxy apologized for acting rude to the librarian earlier and offered her a job with the gang, which she gladly accepted, punching her mahogany desk in half and running out the front door.
At the old Renault castle (now tourist trap/museum) the gang tricked their tour guide into showing them the dungeon with promises of true crime podcast fame, in the basement they found evidence of an old guillotine being pushed to the side, they strapped the tour guide to a chair, and moved the guillotine where they found a numberpad, by dusting the numberpad with coal they found the numbers 1 4 5 and 0 were used most commonly. Using it’s hacking ability Ech0 illuminated the proper order to press them in (0451) and the floor opened up revealing a circular glass elevator.
