XDZ as MOTHERSHIP adventure

#1

Last Friday we had a tied vote for XDZ vs MOTHERSHIP for a one shot, so I did both.

Using the map pieces as detailed, GM only, maps and converting the xenomorph stats, based on DEAD PLANET monsters as an example, I was able to run my first MOTHERSHIP session using mind theatre on the fly.

The team had to board a lost ship and retrieve its data cores. They found entrance near the engines.

TURNS: around 10mins.
ROUNDS: 6-10 seconds.

Here are my xenomorph stats:
DRONE:
COMBAT: 65%
SPEED: 65%
INSTINCT: 50%
WOUNDS: 2 (12)

ACTIONS:
ATTACK: CLAWS: 2D10 or TAIL: when ≤10% COMBAT CHECK for 1 WOUND.
FEED: After ATTACK SUCCESS, BODY SAVE on turn or 2 WOUNDS.
HIDE: No check if in shadows &/or reasonable.
POUNCE: From HIDDEN NEARBY, BODY SAVE or WOUND.
BITE: From HIDDEN CLOSE, BODY SAVE or 2 WOUNDS.
ACID: On a successful PC ATTACK, if CLOSE, BODY SAVE or WOUND, (using FIRE wounds table)

ALPHA:
COMBAT: 70%
SPEED: 55%
INSTINCT: 60%
WOUNDS: 3 (13)

ACTIONS: SAME AS ABOVE PLUS:
CALL: 1d2 DRONES appear next round.
LEADER: On death, any DRONES retreat 2 TURNS.

I choose to have around 5 xenos in total as its quite a different style of play to ICRPG.
They didn’t get there, but I plan to have the ALPHA appear 4 TURNS after they successfully grab the data, wherever they get to on the way back to their own ship.

I will also just roll dice to see if the xenos are present in next room or for traces of their presence or sounds etc, like a wandering monster. Perhaps print mini cards of the rooms and use small tokens to track the xenos behind a small screen.
