Weapon Tags, ft. Rhapsody of Blood

#1

Hey my ppls!

I’ve been playing in a little test-drive campaign of Worlds of Legacy: Rhapsody of Blood. Basically Castlevania meets Darkest Dungeon meets Dungeon World/PbtA, awesome stuff!

There are many cool mechanics on that game, so I urge you to go check it out, but today I wanted to talk about their awesome take on weapon tags. The way it works is super elegant. You pick 1 perk and 1 flaw and you can have any weapon you can imagine in an instant! In practice this works awesome for creating enemy attacks too.

Stronger/better/magical weapons might have more perks or even no flaws! Like an automatic crossbow with no “reload” or a “holy” greatsword.

I just think the “flaw” tags add a lot to the way weapons are played, and the whole thing is super useful to make them interesting.

Just wanted to share this ha.
Cheers!

P.D: I’m totally “adapting” this for my Index Card World hack :stuck_out_tongue:

I got a lot of ideas for my PbtA game from Rhapsody of Blood as well. The design of the book is really crisp too.
