Guns, glam, 80’s computer graphics, kanji, Blade Runner samples, big hair, dry ice…this is the most cyberpunk thing I can imagine.
One of my favorite bands. An apocryphal story…
The band was formed-purposefully-to make fun of ‘rockbands’. They were rude and arrogant at press stuff, claimed their music and lyrics were written by a ‘supercomputer’, and they sold ad space on their first album. (I can confirm that last part-“Studio Line from L’Oreal! Studio-studio-studio Line from L’Oreal!”) The plan was that they were going to stage a spectacular breakup, band member fights, and eventually a reunion tour. But they just kind of fell apart. Shame, really. They have a few other songs that came out after the two big albums, but I’d have liked to see that come together.

They have “Ferris Buehler’s Day Off” to thank for their 15 minutes. But Tony James went on to Sisters of Mercy which I listened too a lot until Grunge came on the scene.
I actually found this video after watching Yellow’s Oh, Yeah
