Archetypes for my NoEXP game

#1

This are Archetypes for my upcoming game : NoEXP

Your character archetype is what defines the core and soul of your character.

In NoEXP this is the player, playing the character. It is similar to backgrounds in D&D 5e. But also giving you one special power, and guideline how your character must be played

  • Archetype will give you one special power that is always with your character, no mater of equipment or class.
  • Archetype will give you one bane. A negative effect that will hamper your character in some way.
  • Archetype defines the way you will play your character, think of it as alignment, goal, origin – Playing the character properly will grant you awards in hero coins.
  • Archetype is gained on character creation only, and can not be changed.

Noob:

  • -You are completely new to the game. You wear rose tinted glasses over your starry eyes and everything is a wonder for you. You have no idea how anything works. But you are eager to try all !
  • -I have no idea how it works: Once per scene you can use any stat for your roll
  • -Once per scene GM may tell you to use random ( 1d6 determines ) stat for your roll

Leader:

  • -You always end up being leader of the group or guild, and you can not help it. People naturally look up for you to make decisions. You always tell everyone what to do. You always try to make plans. GM will always ask you what party does.
  • -All your rolls are easy if the party is obeying your special plan of action
  • -All your rolls are hard if they don’t

Achiever:

  • -The game is just set of goals for you to accomplish. But you will never rest until you accomplish all of them, no matter how unimportant or un related they are.
  • -All rolls for overcoming puzzle and quest related checks are easy to you
  • -You suffer exp penalty if you miss any area/task in the quest

Killer:

  • -Only thing that interest you in the game is killing things. That is the only fun. Anything that does not benefit you killing things faster or more efficiently does not interest you at all
  • -You get bonus exp if everything on the quest is killed
  • -You get exp penalty if it isnt

Roleplayer:

  • -You are artist of roleplay. A higher class of player. A real artiste ! And anyone that does not roleplay is just a disgusting primitive barbarian to you. You roleplay all the time – no out of character talk for you. EVER
  • -Any social interaction is easy for you – if you roleplay ( voice and all )
  • -Anything that you don’t roleplay is hard task

Rule-Lawyer:

  • -You are master of rulebook, you have compulsion to find every bug ( point GM to every rule slip up ) even if it benefits the party. Everyone hates you
  • -Caught you Cheating: once per scene you can nerf DM ( or other players) roll
  • -Everyone hates you: any social roll is hard for you

Cheater:

  • -Its all about winning without effort for you. You have to be better and don’t care how. Luckily you know that one site that has some hacks. But beware, *GMs are on your tracks ! ( * Game Master NPCs )
  • -One of your items have +3 property ( that stacks )
  • -Once a day roll 1d20 – on 1 GM caught you. You lose 50% of your level XP

Ganker:

  • -Making other players miserable makes you feel better about yourself. You are despicable personality
  • -Attacking players ( including NPC players ) is easy task for you
  • -You are WANTED by guards

MurderHobo:

  • -Cause just killing everything brings more XP than doing stupid quests.
    Who cares about quests anyway?
  • -You get bonus EXP from killing everything on quest
  • -You get no EXP from quests itself

Kid:

  • -You should be doing your homework. Your allowed time next to the screen is over. So beware that your Mom does not catch you playing.
  • -Natural talent – Once a scene, your attack hits automatically
  • -Your mom walked in – Once a scene, you lose a turn ( GM discretion )

Twink:

  • -You have friends that play the game and have higher level characters. They provide you with best equipment. And Gold.
  • -Once a day you get to reroll your loot roll
  • -You are the last to pick items from loot

PowerPlayer:

  • -You strive to be one of top players in Questria and you know how to do it. Power of Wikis, playtroughs, walktroughs is on your side.
  • -You automatically identify any item and any knowledge check is easy for you
  • -You only gain EXP from obligatory Quest tasks, anything party does at side does not bring bonus to you

PK:

  • -You are out to show the world you are best player, by means of killing other players. There can be only one! But you are fair and all your kills are honorable duels.
  • -Attacking other players is easy task for you
  • -Feared: You get no reward ( loot, gold ) from quest givers

NPC:

  • -You are not actual player but one of hard coded denizens of Questria. Choose what kind of NPC you are
  • -You regenerate HP after combat
  • -You are one level lower than any of Player, players

Casual:

  • -You are a busy working person with playing the game to unwind after long day. You have nor the time or patience for serious investment. You don’t know the rules quite well. You have just general idea of how to play your character. And you kind of roll with the flow.
  • -Luck of the Casul: Once a scene, reroll a dice
  • -Any knowledge is hard check for you

Girlfriend/Boyfriend:

  • -Your partner playes this game so you have no choice ( its only way to be with them )
  • -Choose one other player ( you don’t need to tell them ) They are your partner. You can help them on any roll they make, making it easy roll ( or not hard roll ). Such help in combat means you forfeit your action.
  • -Faithful: You will always agree with what your partner does, and give him dibs on any loot.
